Apple Supplier AAC Technologies Lifted to Outperform by Credit Suisse

Published: Monday August 21, 2017

Credit Suisse has upgraded Apple (AAPL) supplier AAC Technologies (2018.HK) to outperform from neutral on expectations of strong growth in lenses used in smartphones. The broker also lifted its price target from HKD98.40 a share to HKD136 a share, arguing AAC Technologies, which also makes components like speakers, will become a competitive player in the lens market as it lifts volumes: AAC is well known as a strong execution high tech company, but historically earnings and share price have been volatile or cyclical depending on acoustic (and then haptics) upgrade cycles. Credit Suisse reckons the stocks is a good play on the lens market even though the stock is trading near the high end of its PE range: We understand comparing to its own historical P/E range, AAC is trading close to the high-end, which is why our new TP only implies 21% upside.

AAC Technologies: Resumes Trading After Dismissing Short Seller Claims

Published: Wednesday June 07, 2017

Shares in Apple (AAPL) supplier AAC Technologies (2018.HK) will resume trading in Hong Kong on Wednesday, following a recent attack on the company by a short-seller. U.S.-based short Gotham City in May published a report alleging that AAC, which makes speaker components, engaged in undisclosed transactions with unauthorized third parties. Gotham said that AAC used at least 20 suppliers controlled by family members of chief executive Pan Zheng Min in order to offload losses, boost profit margins and avoid Apple’s labor standards.
